Smuggling: The Al Capone Way
When it comes to Capone obtaining power, the method of smuggling severed as his biggest tool for the economic and political power he was known to have. During the early 1900's, the prohibition began and it outlawed any and all alcohol, and by hearing of this, he found a perfect way for quite and vast amount of money. To smuggle, Al Capone found contacts in Canada (which had not followed the laws that came with the prohibition), and started importing the alcohol from Canada to Chicago. Their were various methods in which Al Capone could have smuggled the alcohol from Canada to Chicago: boat/water transportation, possible bribing of cops, and finally through vehicle transportation. Though their was other competition already in Chicago, Capone had dominance over both distribution and supply of the alcohol; thus, other competitors trying to compete for his spot were targeted. In the end, smuggling was Capone's game, and he made that clear to any competition in Chicago.
